IOTA LAMBDA
CHAPTER HISTORY
Iota
Lambda Chapter at Indianapolis, Indiana, was chartered in April
1922, to include students at Indiana, Purdue, DePauw, and Butler
universities. The chapter was set up by Brother Fairfax of Ohio
University and Brother Powell of Tau Chapter. The Charter members
and officers were Brother Morris Taylor, president; Brother Walker,
Vice-president; Brother Clay Johnson, secretary; Brother S.A.
Fruniss, treasurer. Other charter members were Brothers Burbridge,
Gore, Averitte Corley, Minus Woodruff, and Matthews.

Iota
Lambda Chapter is now one of the oldest alumni chapters in the
Fraternity, serving Indianapolis and Central Indiana. It's past
and present members include a "Who's Who" of business,
civic, educational, and relligious leaders in the area. Regular
programs and activities in Iota Lambda include: Founders' Day,
Alpha Esquires/Youth Leadership, Black and Gold Ball, Project
Alpha (teen sexual responsibility), and participation in Indiana
Black Expo®, Circle City Classic®, the Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving
Dinner, Voter Registration, the IUPUI Dr. Martin Luther King Dinner,
and the March of Dimes.
