Iota Lambda Chapter again sponsored the Alpha Phi Alpha Booth for Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration 2005. This year's double booth changed format somewhat from the previous year by employing a more open display area in an effort to draw people into the exhibit. Also, with the increasing challenge of set up and take down, we were looking to more content with less bulk.

A marble-look rectangular arch in the background of the display area bore the Greek letters A Phi A in gold. The arch framed the Sphinx and pyramids color print created for an earlier display. Bottom center were two new photo light boxes with colorful scenes of Iota Lambda and Alpha in action, set off by brightly colored mums. Placards with messages of welcome, Alpha history, and information on our community initiatives bordered the left side of the exhibit, while art work celebrating Alpha and African American men bordered the right. The other half of the exhibit featured an information center, with tables draped in black and old gold for public information and our considerable on site technology. On the left end of the table were continuously playing tapes of stepping, which attracted many viewers. On the right end was an updated electronic slide show giving Iota Lambda and Alpha information via snapshots of our website. In between, visitors could pick up color brochures about our chapter and Fraternity, information sheets on our community activities, and information on the Black and Gold Scholarship Ball. We estimate that over 50 Brothers - many from out of town - and many more members of the general public stopped by. By the way - before you ask - the selection of backdrop and divider curtain colors, gold, purple and teal, was by Indiana Black Expo.

The Expo Committee of Brothers Steve Jones, Aaron Woodall, and Ed Squires thanks local alumni and college Brothers who assisted or dropped into the booth to show their support. Our special thanks to all out of town Brothers and others who visited our exhibit. Follow ups are planned for those who signed the visitor's roster or requested program information.
