The
Alpha Phi Alpha Booth for Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration
2004 was sponsored by Iota Lambda Chapter. The Booth incorporated
elements from the past by way of a temple structure suggestive
of Karnak on the Nile, with plain stone columns and lentils,
accented by gold flowers and greenery. At the back of the
"temple" was a 3-D
scene with a large color sphinx/Tut mask likeness against
a background of stone pyramids under a black, moonlit sky.
Three lighted pylons tied old and new together with color
photos of recent Iota Lambda and Alpha events within the
Fraternity and outside in the community. On the "business"
side of the two booth display, information was available
on voter registration, Alpha programs, and Iota Lambda Chapter,
the last item by way of an updated color brochure. Candy
was available for passers-by with a sweet tooth to enjoy
while viewing video tapes of Alpha step competitions. An
animated electronic slide show played in the back of the
booth, giving a mini-tour of our website. The Iota Lambda
banner gave a formal backdrop to the display, as many Alpha
and non-Alpha visitors stopped by to view and visit.
We
are grateful that Indiana Black Expo again recognized our
Chapter's efforts by awarding us the
First Place Booth in the Community
Organizations division. Thanks to all Brothers
who participated in any way. Individual contributions of
time, talent, and materials will be recognized at Chapter
Meeting. More photos and details are anticipated so please
check back.
