In a year where the extraordinary became commonplace, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Iota Lambda Chapter, celebrated Founders' Day with an event which was over the top, off the hook, and just Alpha Elegant in every way. On Friday evening, December 8, 2006, over 500 Alphas, guests, and sponsors assembled at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown for an extravaganza that will long be remembered in Indianapolis, the District of Indiana, and we hope the Midwestern Region. The phenomenal turnout was the result of an incredibly dedicated team of Iota Lambda Brothers and Alphamen, Inc. members, who a new scope for Alpha events in our city. The event attracted members and leaders from throughout the Panhellenic Council - the Divine Nine - as well as state and local civic and business leaders, other notables and citizens from around the city and surrounding area. The event was highlighted by a lavish souvenir program, superb reception and dinner, silent auction, presentation of Alpha Man of the Year to Br. Tony Kirkland, additional awards to Brothers and others, and an evening of spectacular entertainment by the incomparable S.O.S. Band. Substantial proceeds to the educational activities of our Chapter via Alphamen, Inc. are expected. We hope the 7 Jewels would be proud as are we.
