Alphas, other Greeks, and community members gathered on Monday
evening, December 4, 2006, at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church
in Indianapolis, where Brother Rev. Syl Shannon, National Convention
Chaplain and now Iota Lambda member is acting pastor. We had a
beautifully simple service including prayer, words on the occasion
from Chapter President William Lindsey, a medley of fraternity
and sorority hymns (concluding with the Alpha hymn), collection
for the MLK Memorial, and a characteristically brief but stirring
charge from Br. Rev. Shannon to go forth and to do the work of
Alpha on behalf of our brothers and sisters in need. The evening
concluded with a gracious fellowship provided by Witherspoon Presbyterian
Church. The message from Br. Shannon was as always succinct and
on point. Now that the richly-deserved celebration is of our Alpha
Centennial is concluded, the real work of Alpha in the name of
our Lord and Savior continues. |
